Global Space Connectivity and Sustainability Event to Launch in Riyadh

The Global Space Connectivity and Sustainability Event is scheduled to begin this coming Monday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Organized by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the three-day event operates under the theme ‘A Connected World and Sustainable Space’.

The event integrates the third editions of the International Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) Forum and the Space Sustainability Forum (SSF). Key discussion topics include integrated communications for the 6G era, preparations for the WRC-27 conference, and direct-to-device (D2D) satellite communications.

Participants will also address the space economy, global governance, and responsible behavior in space, with a specific focus on managing orbital congestion and preventing space debris. Additionally, the program will feature the announcement of winners for the NTN 2026 global research competition, organized in collaboration with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
