Global tech startups see surge in US and European funding
Global technology startup funding saw significant activity across the United States and Europe. In the US, startups raised over $4.2 billion in a single week between August 3 and August 10, 2026. This period was marked by a historic surge in large-scale investments, with three companies—Hadrian, Base Power, and Valar Atomics—each raising $1 billion or more in the same seven-day window.
Hadrian secured $1.37 billion in a Series D round to develop automated factories for aerospace and defense manufacturing. Base Power raised $1 billion to expand its residential battery storage and virtual power plant systems, while Valar Atomics also secured $1 billion for its operations.
In Europe, over €475 million was invested across more than 35 technology deals. The most active sectors included space, artificial intelligence, and software. Spain led European investment totals with €159 million, followed by the United Kingdom with €108.6 million and Türkiye with €67 million. Notable European deals included €158.9 million for PLD Space in Spain and $76 million for Stability AI in the UK.
