Global tourism and business travel sectors show strong recovery

The global tourism and business travel sectors are experiencing a significant recovery. International travel demand is rising, supported by expanded flight networks, simplified visa regulations, and digital entry processes. Tourism authorities are increasingly focusing on sustainable development, eco-friendly initiatives, and the preservation of local heritage to manage higher visitor volumes.

Specifically, business travel confidence has reached its highest level of 2026. According to a Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) poll of over 600 professionals, 63 per cent are optimistic about the industry outlook for 2027, a notable increase from 41 per cent in April. This rebound follows a period of uncertainty caused by geopolitical tensions and fuel price concerns.

While optimism has grown among both buyers and suppliers, industry leaders note that organizations are becoming more strategic and disciplined regarding their travel decisions. Europe saw the most significant turnaround in sentiment, moving from negative net optimism in April to a positive 44 in September.
