Global university rankings highlight CityUHK and UBC achievements

Global university rankings for 2026 have highlighted significant achievements for several institutions. The City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) secured a position in the top 100 of the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) for the second consecutive year, rising to 95th worldwide and maintaining its second-place ranking in Hong Kong. Notably, the university entered the global top 25 for the “Highly Cited Researchers by Clarivate” indicator.

In the National Taiwan University (NTU) Rankings, the University of British Columbia (UBC) was ranked 32nd globally, climbing five spots over the last two years. UBC outperformed institutions such as Sorbonne University, the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Tokyo. Within Canada, the University of Toronto achieved a fourth-place global ranking. The NTU evaluation focuses on research productivity, impact, and excellence based on scientific paper performance.
