Global wealth report shows record rise in millionaires in 2025
Capgemini’s 2025 World Wealth Report says the global count of millionaires reached 25.3 million, a 7.9 % increase from the previous year, and total wealth climbed to $98.3 trillion – the highest on record. The surge was largely driven by strong equity performance in companies linked to artificial‑intelligence technologies.
The United States added the most new millionaires, with 736 000 people crossing the $1 million threshold, followed by significant gains in Japan (436 000) and China (154 000). The Asia‑Pacific region recorded a 9.4 % rise, while Europe saw a 6.5 % increase, led by Luxembourg’s 13.5 % jump. Ultra‑high‑net‑worth individuals (assets over $30 million) grew to about 250 000, up 9.4 %.
The report notes that wealth remains highly concentrated – the richest 1 % own roughly 35 % of global wealth. The only region with a decline was the Middle East, where the number of millionaires fell 1.4 % amid lower oil prices. Overall, lower inflation and enthusiasm for AI‑related investments underpinned the growth.
