Global wealth transfer and French savings trends

In July 2026, the Livret A savings account in France saw a modest net collection of 80 million euros, marking a return to positive growth after six consecutive months of net withdrawals. This slight increase follows a minor interest rate rise from 1.5% to 1.7%, though analysts suggest the shift may be due to the expiration of various promotional bank offers rather than the rate change itself.

On a global scale, a massive intergenerational transfer of wealth is projected to occur over the next two decades. According to estimates from Edmond de Rothschild, between 80 trillion and 125 trillion dollars will be passed from the baby boomer generation to their heirs by 2045. This movement is described as the largest voluntary transfer of private capital in modern history.
