Global wine trends highlight value and regional diversity

The wine industry continues to offer diverse options for consumers, ranging from large-scale commercial producers to specialized regional varieties. Steve Lohr, CEO of J. Lohr Vineyards & Wine, has overseen the company's expansion from 280 acres to 4,000 acres, with production reaching 3 million cases distributed across 44 countries. The company focuses on high quality-price ratio wines, such as the Seven Oaks Cabernet Sauvignon, which maintains accessibility through scale.

In Europe, there is a growing emphasis on exploring wines from Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Notable selections include Slovenia’s Verus Pinot Gris, produced in the Štajerska Slovenija appellation, and Hungary’s Gizella Estate Blend Tokaji, which utilizes traditional grapes like Furmint and Harslevelu to produce dry white wines. These regions are noted for providing high-quality, food-friendly options that offer significant value.
