Global Workforce Faces Communication Gaps and Work Ethic Strain
A Forbes Human Resources Council report found that 51% of executives admit their organisations struggle to maintain regular communication during transformation projects, with 72% of failures attributed to people issues such as insufficient management support and employee resistance. The lack of structured communication is estimated to cost $2.3 trillion globally each year, while poor change‑management wastes about 14% of project budgets.
At the same time, more than half of the global workforce reports financial strain, and employers increasingly blame younger generations for attendance problems. Analysts argue that inflation has weakened the incentive structure that once linked effort to financial progress, leading to higher absenteeism in hourly, in‑person roles. The combination of communication breakdowns in organisational change and weakened work incentives highlights a broader crisis in workforce motivation and productivity.
