Global Youth Mobilization initiative highlights youth leadership
The Big Six, a coalition of major international youth organizations, has launched the Global Youth Mobilization (GYM) initiative. This platform aims to shift the narrative regarding young people, moving away from the perception of youth as drivers of COVID-19 transmission toward recognizing them as essential agents of change.
Originally established as an emergency response during the pandemic, GYM has evolved into a long-term platform for youth empowerment. The initiative focuses on intergenerational leadership and provides a fund to support young leaders who address global challenges, including human rights and community support.
The coalition includes the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA), the World YMCA, the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), and The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.
