Globe Telecom launches GPlan Junior amid push for cyber‑smart parenting
Globe Telecom introduced GPlan Junior, a postpaid add‑on for children aged 7 to 20 priced at ₱499 per month. The plan attaches to an existing Globe postpaid account and offers unlimited calls and texts, 10 GB of data with rollover, and parental supervision through the GlobeOne app, which lets parents monitor usage and select three apps for unlimited access. It also includes free access to Messenger Kids and Mobile Legends, and provides up to ₱500 in GCash vouchers for users who open a GCash Jr. account, promoting financial‑literacy for young users.
Separately, cybersecurity experts Chad Rychlewski and Kay David highlighted on the Where Parents Talk podcast that protecting children online relies more on early conversations and awareness than on technical controls. They argue that teaching kids why certain online behaviors are risky builds lasting resilience, a message that aligns with the parental‑control features of the new telecom offering.
