Actress Gabriela Duarte has publicly criticized the conduct of a recent interview conducted alongside her mother, Regina Duarte, by Folha de S. Paulo. The interview, intended to promote their new theatrical production “A Filha da…”, became a subject of controversy after clips focused on Regina Duarte’s political views and her past involvement with the Jair Bolsonaro administration went viral.

Gabriela Duarte described the journalistic approach as “quite inelegant” and “sensationalist,” arguing that the interviewer insisted on political topics when the focus should have remained on their professional reunion and artistic careers. She questioned the state of journalism, suggesting that the pursuit of headlines and viral clips was being prioritized over context and respectful dialogue.

Following the initial backlash, the duo appeared on Record TV’s “Domingo Espetacular” to address the situation. While Regina Duarte addressed her past political roles, Gabriela Duarte attempted to steer the conversation away from partisan issues to focus on their return to the stage after more than two decades of working separately.
