Globo disputes Andrea Sorvetão's image rights lawsuit

Actress Andrea Sorvetão has filed a lawsuit against Rede Globo and Renato Aragão Produções Artísticas regarding the alleged improper use of her image. The dispute centers on her participation in the television program ‘Os Trapalhões’ during 1991 and 1992.

Sorvetão claims that while she received initial compensation for her work, she has not been adequately remunerated for the numerous reruns on TV Globo and Canal Viva, the availability of episodes on Globoplay, or the sale of DVDs. She also questioned the inclusion of old Hering brand commercials in streaming content.

In its legal defense, Globo has characterized the actress's claims as “absurda” (absurd). The broadcaster maintains that original contracts included provisions for unlimited reruns and commercialization with established remuneration criteria. Globo asserts that payments were made to Renato Aragão Produções Artísticas, which was responsible for distributing funds to the actress. Furthermore, the network argues that the rights are time-barred due to the long period since the initial broadcasts and commercial releases.
