Globo hires commentator Mari Pereira from ESPN

Globo has hired sports commentator Mari Pereira from ESPN to join the SporTV team. Pereira, who had recently renewed her contract with Disney earlier this year, accepted the move following a more advantageous proposal from Globo.

Her transition follows her final broadcast for ESPN on Monday, which covered a Premier League match between Leeds United and Newcastle. Pereira has been with ESPN since 2020, notably becoming the first woman to join the panel of the program ‘Linha de Passe’ in September 2024.

At SporTV, Pereira will play a key role in the network's coverage of the 2027 Women's World Cup, which will be hosted in Brazil. Her career has been heavily focused on women's football, beginning with her work at the ‘Dibradoras’ portal and her early roles covering the Women's Libertadores.
