Globo licenses original series ‘Blood Red’ to the BBC

Brazilian media company Globo has announced a distribution deal with the BBC for its original series ‘Blood Red – Under the Moonlight’. The teen fantasy-thriller, which features supernatural elements and Brazilian mythology, will be available to UK audiences via BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.

This marks the first time a Globoplay original has been licensed to the BBC. The series, set in the landscapes of Minas Gerais, has already seen significant success in Brazil, becoming one of Globoplay’s most-consumed series among young audiences during its first 30 days.

During its Mipcom showcase, Globo also highlighted several other international strategic partnerships and adaptation agreements with entities including SIC in Portugal, Ay Yapım in Turkey, and Alpha TV in Greece, as part of a broader effort to expand its production formats into global markets.
