Globo maintains afternoon lead despite prime-time rating setbacks
Globo continues to dominate the Brazilian afternoon television landscape, maintaining an isolated lead with the program ‘Sessão Da Tarde’. Despite a consolidated average of 9.27 points, the broadcaster remains significantly ahead of competitors like Record and SBT, which rely heavily on soap opera reruns.
However, the broadcaster faced a rare setback during prime time. The program ‘Que História é Essa, Porchat?’, hosted by Fábio Porchat, experienced its lowest audience performance to date. During a direct confrontation with Record’s reality show ‘A Fazenda’, the comedy program lost its leadership for 16 minutes, recording 6.01 points against the competitor’s 6.25 in the Greater São Paulo area.
While the Porchat program eventually reclaimed its time slot leadership by the end of its broadcast, the season has seen a 20% decline in average viewership compared to its 2020 debut.
