Globo to release documentary spin-off regarding Maxwell Clinic

Following the success of the documentary ‘O Testamento: O Segredo de Anita Harley’, Globo is developing a spin-off titled ‘A Clínica’. The new series focuses on the Maxwell Clinic, a psychiatric institution located in Atibaia, São Paulo.

The original production explored the inheritance dispute and guardianship of Anita Harley, the principal shareholder of Casas Pernambucanas, who has been in a coma since 2016. A central element of that investigation involved Vidya, Harley’s niece, whose long-term hospitalization at the Maxwell Clinic raised questions from medical experts regarding whether her condition justified continuous confinement.

‘A Clínica’ will feature accounts from former patients who contacted the production team to share their experiences at the institution. Directed by journalist Camila Appel, the documentary series is scheduled to premiere on November 9, with subsequent episodes airing throughout November.
