Globo TV announces Sessão da Tarde film lineup for late August

The Brazilian television program Sessão da Tarde will feature a selection of films from August 31 to September 4, 2026. The lineup includes comedy, biographical drama, science fiction, and romance.

On Monday, August 31, the network will broadcast the 2023 Brazilian film ‘Tire 5 Cartas’, directed by Diego Freitas. Starring Lília Cabral and Stepan Nercessian, the comedy-drama follows Fátima, a 60-year-old woman who moved from São Luís, Maranhão, to Rio de Janeiro to pursue a singing career. After failing to find success in music, she begins working as a tarot reader, using social media research to fake her psychic abilities. The plot intensifies when a valuable tourmaline ring appears, forcing the couple to flee back to Maranhão to escape criminals.

The weekly schedule also includes ‘Mãos Talentosas: A História de Ben Carson’, a 2009 biographical production starring Cuba Gooding Jr., and the comedy ‘Se Eu Fosse Você 2’ featuring Tony Ramos and Glória Pires.
