Globos de Ouro awards spark controversy and social media interaction

The Globos de Ouro awards gala has drawn attention due to both social media interactions and criticisms regarding its special 30th-anniversary awards.

Following a fall by actress Débora Monteiro while presenting an award, she and Sofia Ribeiro exchanged supportive messages on Instagram, dismissing rumors of tension between them.

Separately, the introduction of special 30-year recognition awards sparked controversy. Comedian Ricardo Araújo Pereira expressed discomfort during his acceptance speech for the Humor category. This prompted actress Maria Rueff to criticize the organization, citing a lack of historical memory and alleging that the selection process reflects persistent machismo in the industry. She noted that veteran performers who contributed to the medium decades ago were overlooked in favor of the new special award format.
