Princess Gloria von Thurn und Taxis, a devout Catholic and outspoken conservative, told Deutschlandkurier that reliance on the state has turned people into a "comfortable" populace. She criticised what she sees as political correctness, argued that Europe is losing its Christian roots, and warned that continued migration could shift demographic balances.

She recalled Angela Merkel’s early‑wave comment that a decline in church attendance should not be blamed for visible Muslim practice, and she urged Christians to defend their faith. Gloria also claimed the Church in Germany and other Western nations is in an identity crisis, and she called for a return to traditional values in European politics.
