Gloria‑Sophie Burkandt speaks on father’s influence in new ProSieben documentary

Gloria‑Sophie Burkandt, 27, the daughter of Bavarian Minister‑President Markus Söder, appears in ProSieben’s reality series “Born Famous – Fluch oder Segen?”. In the programme she says many men are intimidated by her father, calling him an “Alpha‑Man”, and explains that his public stature makes her dating life difficult. She criticises the “sensationalist” media for probing her private affairs and dismisses rumours linking her to former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, stating “Who cares? My private life is my private life.”

Burkandt also describes the limited time she can spend with her father because of his political duties, noting that even at events such as the Oktoberfest he is quickly drawn back to the press. She stresses a desire to be seen as an individual rather than “the daughter of” and hopes the documentary will show her own career as a model, influencer and student, alongside other children of German celebrities.

The series follows several celebrity offspring, highlighting both their personal ambitions and the shadow of their famous parents.
