Gloucestershire police seize two vehicles after unusual traffic stop

Police near Chipping Campden seized two vehicles following a traffic stop involving an uninsured driver and a friend with a provisional license.

Officers from the Cotswolds Neighbourhood Policing team observed a vehicle being driven poorly on the evening of September 22. Upon being stopped, the driver claimed he had traveled from Coventry and was ‘taking his car for a walk’. The vehicle was found to be uninsured and was subsequently seized.

A friend of the driver arrived at the scene, claiming they had traveled via Uber to support the driver. However, police discovered there was no Uber involved. Officers then located an abandoned vehicle nearby, which belonged to the friend. It was determined that the friend had driven the vehicle despite only holding a provisional license. Both vehicles were seized under section 165 of the Road Traffic Act, and both drivers face court proceedings.
