Gloucestershire woman arrested after fatal house fire

A woman in her 60s has been arrested on suspicion of murder and arson with intent to endanger life following a fatal house fire in Hardwicke, Gloucestershire.

Emergency services responded to reports of a fire on Elmgrove Road West shortly before 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 16. Upon arrival, crews found a woman in her 90s unconscious inside the property. Despite attempts at CPR by emergency responders, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gloucestershire Police stated that the suspect is known to the victim and that the event “appears to have been an isolated incident.” The suspect remains in police custody for questioning while investigators maintain a cordon at the address.
