GLP-1 weight loss medication drives surge in supplement and skincare sales

The expanding use of GLP-1 weight loss medications is significantly altering consumer behavior in the pharmaceutical and wellness sectors. In Brazil, Drogaria Araujo reported a 53% increase in protein supplement sales and a 40% rise in creatine sales between January and August 2026 compared to the previous year. Notably, electrolyte replacement sales surged by 2,000% as users seek to mitigate side effects.

Medical professionals warn that the appetite suppression caused by these medications can lead to nutritional deficiencies, muscle mass loss, nausea, and dehydration. Consequently, there is a growing demand for products targeting digestive health, hair strengthening, and skin hydration. Experts emphasize that because obesity is a chronic disease, weight loss should be managed through individualized medical supervision to avoid complications such as rapid muscle depletion and metabolic imbalances.
