GLP-1 weight‑loss drugs tied to lower breast cancer risk and reported ADHD improvements

Researchers analyzing electronic health records of 111,646 U.S. women aged 45‑80 found that users of GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro and Zepbound had about 30‑35 % lower odds of developing breast cancer compared with non‑users. The study, led by Dr. Elizabeth McDonald of the University of Pennsylvania and presented at the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting, matched participants on age, race, BMI and other factors. While the findings cannot prove causation, they add to evidence that GLP-1 drugs may influence cancer‑related pathways beyond weight loss.

Separately, anecdotal reports and a small clinical observation by Dr. Lenard Adler of NYU Langone Health suggest that GLP‑1 users experience noticeable improvements in ADHD symptoms, including increased focus, reduced procrastination and better impulse control. Approximately half of Adler’s ADHD patients on GLP‑1s reported such benefits, though no large‑scale trials currently exist to confirm a therapeutic effect.
