GLP and JFE Steel launch 300 billion yen logistics project in Kawasaki

GLP and JFE Steel have launched the ‘ALFALINK Kawasaki Ogishima Project,’ a large-scale multi-functional logistics development in Kawasaki City, Japan. The project involves the development of 11 refrigerated and frozen logistics facilities on approximately 18 hectares of land formerly held by JFE Steel’s East Nippon Steel Works (Keihin District).

With a total investment expected to exceed 300 billion yen, the project aims to create a highly advanced logistics hub. The facilities will cover a total floor area of approximately 370,000 square meters, providing a storage capacity of 550,000 tons. Construction is scheduled to begin sequentially in June 2028, with completion expected by July 2030.

The initiative is part of the ‘OHGISHIMA 2050’ land use vision by the JFE Group, which seeks to contribute to regional development and job creation. The project will incorporate decarbonization efforts, such as hydrogen mobility and hydrogen stations, as well as logistics DX through automated driving trucks and automated equipment. To support the development, Kawasaki City and relevant parties plan to improve local infrastructure, including the development of a provisional ‘Ogishima’ Interchange on the Bayshore Route and improved road connections between Higashi-Ogishima and Ogishima.
