Glucube non-invasive glucose monitor developed in Seville

Igluco Tech, in collaboration with the University of Seville and medical professionals from the Virgen del Rocío and Virgen Macarena hospitals, has developed Glucube, a non-invasive glucose monitoring device. Designed for adults with type 2 diabetes, the device has received the CE medical device mark following a decade of development and clinical validation.

Glucube utilizes infrared light technology to analyze blood interaction. Users place a finger into the device and receive results within seconds via a mobile application, eliminating the need for blood extraction or test strips. The project originated from research by the University of Seville's Biomedical Engineering Group, which filed a national patent in 2019.

Medical experts note that diabetes remains a significant health challenge, with approximately 5.1 million adults in Spain living with the condition. A substantial portion of cases, particularly type 2 diabetes, often go undiagnosed because the disease can be asymptomatic in its early stages. The new technology aims to reduce the friction and discomfort associated with daily monitoring to improve patient compliance.
