Glyfada: 16-year-old arrested for drug trafficking and assaulting police

A 16-year-old male was arrested in Glyfada for the possession and intended distribution of cannabis. During a patrol in a local park, police observed the teenager acting suspiciously and attempted to conduct a check. The minor attempted to evade officers by hiding nylon packages in a tree and fleeing on foot.

Following a foot chase, officers apprehended the teenager, who reportedly resisted arrest by striking police officers with punches and kicks. A subsequent search of the area where the packages were hidden revealed 40 nylon bags containing 29 grams of raw cannabis and 22 grams of processed cannabis, intended for distribution in the wider Glyfada area.

The teenager's 42-year-old mother was also arrested on charges of neglect of supervision of a minor. Hellenic Police spokesperson Konstantia Demoglidou noted that investigations are ongoing to identify the suppliers and other individuals involved in the distribution network, highlighting how criminal organizations attempt to recruit young people.
