Gmail introduces one-tap verification code copying

Gmail is introducing a new feature for Android and iOS users that allows for the direct copying of one-time verification codes from the inbox view. This update eliminates the need for users to open an email, locate the specific code within the message body, and manually select it.

Following the update, a ‘Copy code’ button may appear directly under the message subject line in the inbox preview. Additionally, when an email containing a recognized code is opened, the code will appear at the top of the message alongside a quick-copy button. This is particularly helpful for emails containing promotional text or extra instructions that might otherwise obscure the code.

The feature's effectiveness depends on how the sender formats the message; codes hidden among other numbers or presented in unusual formats may not trigger the option. Currently, the copy button does not appear in the system notification panel, meaning users must still interact with the Gmail app to use the feature.
