GMF completes modernisation of Indonesian Air Force C-130H Hercules
Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia (GMF) has completed the modernisation of an Indonesian Air Force C-130H Hercules aircraft, tail number A-1319. The aircraft was formally handed over to Indonesia’s Ministry of Defence by GMF CEO Andi Fahrurrozi on August 19, in the presence of Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.
This project is the second of its kind for GMF, following the 2023 handover of aircraft A-1315. The modernisation of A-1319 involved a more comprehensive scope of work, including a Center Wing Box Replacement (CWBR), an Avionic Upgrade Program (AUP), and a Structural Integrity Programme (SIP).
The replacement of the Center Wing Box is expected to extend the aircraft’s operational service life by approximately 15 to 20 years. Additionally, the avionics upgrade transitioned the aircraft from legacy systems to digital technology to meet modern operational requirements, while the structural integrity programme ensures the airframe can safely support heavy-load missions.
