Gümüşhane’s Sarıçiçek Valley blossoms in yellow, drawing visitors

The Sarıçiçek Valley, located about 2,080 m above sea level in the Gümüşhane province of Turkey, has entered its brief flowering period. Yellow wildflowers covering the valley create a striking landscape that lasts roughly 20 days. This year’s bloom started about 20 days later than usual because of cold and rainy weather, but it still attracted both domestic and foreign nature enthusiasts and photographers.

The valley spans the villages of Ardıç, Akhisar, Demirören and Sarıçiçek and features clear streams and two historic bridges. Local resident Mehmet Kaçan described the scene as “a magnificent yellow valley set among green hills, with clean air and wide vistas” and urged others to visit. Former village head Mahmut İslamoğlu noted that the flowering period varies from 10 to 15 days and highlighted the recent surge in visitor numbers.

After the yellow flowers fade, the area is replanted by other seasonal blossoms, making the Sarıçiçek Valley a year‑round destination for tourists and hikers.
