GMO AI&Robotics launches humanoid robot maintenance vehicle
GMO AI&Robotics (GMO AIR), a subsidiary of the GMO Internet Group, has introduced the ‘GMO Humanoid Ambulance’ in Tokyo. This specialized vehicle is designed as a mobile maintenance and rescue unit specifically for the diagnosis and repair of humanoid robots.
Designed by Yasumichi Morita, the vehicle is equipped with specialized tools, spare parts, replacement batteries, and systems for sensor calibration and remote diagnosis. To minimize downtime, humanoid engineers from the GMO Humanoid Lab in Shibuya travel with the vehicle to perform on-site repairs. If a repair requires more than 1.5 months, the robot is transported to a dedicated lab, and a replacement unit is provided to the user via a subscription model costing 70,000 Yen per month.
The development of this infrastructure responds to the growing need for technical support as humanoid robots enter public and industrial spaces. The initiative aligns with broader goals to support the social implementation of robotics and embodied AI.
