GMR Group seeks to invest in Vietnam aviation infrastructure
GMR Group Chairman Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung to discuss investment opportunities in Vietnam’s aviation and airport infrastructure sectors. The Indian conglomerate, which operates in airport development, energy, transport, and urban infrastructure, expressed strong interest in expanding its presence in Vietnam.
Following a memorandum of understanding signed in May 2026 with several Vietnamese enterprises, GMR is exploring cooperation in airport operations, consulting services, and airport technology. Prime Minister Hung highlighted that Vietnam aims to develop a system of 36 airports by 2030, with further expansion planned through 2050, to boost international connectivity, trade, and tourism.
The Prime Minister emphasized the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and India, noting that political trust and economic potential provide a favorable environment for bilateral cooperation in science, technology, and infrastructure connectivity.
