Broadcasting contribution service launches online account check

The broadcasting contribution service (Beitragsservice) for ARD, ZDF, and Deutschlandradio has launched a new online service allowing residents in Germany to check their personal broadcasting fee accounts.

Users can access the service free of charge without prior registration by providing their nine-digit contribution number and date of birth. The tool allows individuals to verify if they have an outstanding balance, an overpayment, or upcoming payment deadlines. According to Kai Winter, head of operations at the Beitragsservice, the digital option was introduced to meet the demand of citizens who previously relied on telephone inquiries to manage their accounts.
