Gönen Greenhouse Agricultural Zone receives 1.7 billion TL funding

The Gönen Greenhouse Organized Agricultural Zone (OTB) in Balıkesir has been allocated 1.7 billion TL in financing for 2026. The project, which has been included in the investment program by the Presidency of Strategy and Budget, is planned to be established across a total area of 8 million square meters.

In the first phase, covering 1 million square meters, excavation and filling works on a parcel basis have been completed. Preparations for infrastructure works are ongoing, including the installation of wastewater, rainwater, irrigation, and drinking water systems, as well as roads, treatment plants, geothermal transfer lines, and electrical installations.

An infrastructure tender is scheduled for October, with the goal of completing works in the first half of 2027 to deliver the area to investors. Ali Taylan Öztaylan, AK Party Balıkesir Deputy, stated that the project is a strategic investment for the agricultural future of Balıkesir, aiming to transform Gönen into a center for modern agriculture, technological greenhouse production, and high value-added employment.
