Ágnes Forsthoffer faces investigation over asset declaration

Fidesz Member of Parliament Balázs Hidvéghi has formally requested an investigation into the asset declaration of Ágnes Forsthoffer, the Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly. The request, submitted to the Parliamentary Committee on Immunity, alleges that Forsthoffer failed to disclose her interest in a family business.

According to reports, Forsthoffer’s asset declaration left the section for economic interests empty, despite public company registries indicating her membership in Fortrend Hotel Szállodafejlesztő és Szolgáltató Kft. since 2006. This company is linked to the Hotel Margaréta in Balatonfüred. The company has recently approved significant dividend payments, including 40 million HUF in 2025 and 200 million HUF in May 2026.

Hidvéghi argued against a “double standard,” stating that transparency requirements must apply equally to all officials, including those from the Tisza Party. The Parliamentary Committee is expected to decide on the matter in the coming days.
