Gniezno locomotive depot faces museum or private investment debate

The future of the locomotive depot in Gniezno, considered one of Europe’s most valuable technical monuments, is currently under debate. The facility has been in a state of decay for over fifteen years, facing structural damage due to weather exposure.

Two primary models for the site's future have emerged. The Sejm Infrastructure Committee has issued a desideratum to the Prime Minister regarding the establishment of a National Railway Museum in Gniezno. Simultaneously, discussions have surfaced regarding private investment as an alternative to a state-run museum, following previous development concepts and interest from private developers.
