Gniezno police arrest man with ammunition and Nazi-themed dagger
Police in Gniezno, Poland, arrested a 44-year-old man on October 8, 2026, after discovering ammunition and a dagger featuring Nazi symbolism in his possession. The arrest occurred on Roosevelta Street following intelligence that the individual might be holding weapons or ammunition without a permit.
Officers recovered 16 rounds of 9 mm PAK ammunition and a 34-centimeter dagger from the man's bag. The weapon featured a handle decorated with a Nazi eagle and swastika, while the 21-centimeter blade contained an inscription promoting Nazism. No firearms were found during the search.
The suspect has admitted to the charges and faces two counts: illegal possession of ammunition and the promotion of Nazi ideology. Under Polish law, illegal ammunition possession can carry a sentence of up to eight years in prison, while promoting totalitarian ideologies can result in fines, restriction of liberty, or up to three years in prison.
