GNPC supplies 950,000 barrels of Sankofa crude to Tema Oil Refinery

The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has supplied approximately 950,000 barrels of Sankofa crude oil to the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) under a commercial arrangement. The cargo was delivered via the vessel Sonangol Cazenga and received following an inspection by GNPC Chief Executive Kwame Ntow Amoah and TOR Managing Director Edmond Kombat.

The transaction aims to strengthen the connection between Ghana’s upstream petroleum production and its domestic refining capabilities. By providing TOR with locally produced feedstock, the arrangement seeks to help the country retain more value from its petroleum resources within the local economy.

GNPC Chief Executive Amoah noted that the corporation has approximately eight to ten similar crude cargoes available annually. He indicated that as production increases through exploration efforts, such as the Voltaian Basin programme, there may be further opportunities to supply TOR, provided the refinery maintains the necessary processing capacity.
