GNR detains two men for illegal hunting in Portugal
The Portuguese National Republican Guard (GNR) has detained two individuals in separate incidents for illegal hunting in protected areas.
In Alcobaça, a 49-year-old man was caught in the act of hunting in a residential protection zone. Authorities seized a shotgun and cartridges during the operation, which was part of a surveillance action to prevent dangers to local residents.
In Felgueiras, a 66-year-old man was detained following reports of hunting in non-hunting lands within a protection area. The suspect was found to be under the influence of alcohol. GNR officers seized a shotgun and 10 rounds of 12-gauge ammunition. The individual has been formally charged, and the case has been referred to the Felgueiras Judicial Court.
