Go championships held in Tainan and Chiayi attract hundreds of players

Major Go championships were held in Tainan and Chiayi, drawing hundreds of players to compete in various skill levels.

In Tainan, the Speaker's Cup Go Championship returned after a ten-year hiatus. Organized by the Tainan City Council and the Tainan City Go Association, the event attracted approximately 500 players. Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che attended the opening, emphasizing the sport's benefits for concentration and logical thinking. To support local players, the association waived registration fees and sponsored advancement costs.

In Chiayi, the Mayor's Cup National Go Open was held at Fu Jen High School, attracting about 600 participants ranging from children to high-dan professionals. Chiayi Mayor Huang Min-hue attended the ceremony to encourage young players to learn from every match. The event featured professional nine-dan player Wang Yuan-jun, who provided guidance to the competitors.
