Go Woo-suk elects free agency after clearing waivers
Pitcher Go Woo-suk has elected free agency after clearing waivers following his designation for assignment by the Minnesota Twins. The move was made to open a roster spot for prospect Walker Jenkins.
Go, a former top closer in the Korea Baseball Organization, made his Major League Baseball debut with the Twins on July 9. His stint with the big league club lasted four games, during which he allowed four earned runs in four innings. Following his time in the majors, he was optioned to the Triple-A St. Paul Saints.
His tenure with the Saints was marked by struggles with command and a disciplinary issue; he was issued an eight-game suspension after being ejected from a game for using a foreign substance in his glove. Despite showing high strikeout potential in the minor leagues, Go struggled with walks and earned runs during his recent outings.
