Go Woo-suk returns to LG Twins after MLB stint
Pitcher Go Woo-suk has officially returned to the LG Twins after concluding his pursuit of Major League Baseball (MLB). The LG Twins announced on September 2 that Go signed a one-year contract worth 500 million won. Due to the KBO salary structure, his total compensation for the remainder of the season (September to November) will be 150 million won.
Go’s journey in the United States included stints with the San Diego Padres, Miami Marlins, Detroit Tigers, and most recently, the Minnesota Twins. Despite reaching the Major Leagues with Minnesota, he struggled with a 9.00 ERA over four appearances and was eventually designated for assignment.
While his return provides significant depth to an LG bullpen currently facing injuries to key players like Kim Jin-seong and Jang Hyun-sik, Go will be ineligible to participate in the postseason. KBO regulations require players to be registered by July 31 to be eligible for the playoffs. LG manager Yeom Kyung-yup noted that Go is expected to serve as a key relief pitcher rather than a primary closer, helping to stabilize the bullpen for the remainder of the regular season.
