Goa election authorities begin preparations for 2027 Assembly elections

District election authorities in North and South Goa have initiated preparatory measures for the 2027 Assembly elections. In North Goa, Collector and District Election Officer Surendra Naik chaired a review meeting to assess operational arrangements, including manpower deployment and the assessment of polling staff requirements.

To ensure electoral integrity, officials discussed the establishment of Expenditure Monitoring Teams, Flying Squads, and Static Surveillance Teams. Law and order strategies were also reviewed, focusing on arms license monitoring and the surveillance of habitual offenders to maintain security during the voting process.

In South Goa and Kushavati, authorities have outlined the schedule for the Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls. Draft rolls are scheduled for publication on November 12, with a period for claims and objections running until December 11. The final electoral rolls are expected to be published on January 4, 2027. Election officers have urged political parties to assist in voter verification and to encourage citizens to utilize EVM Demonstration Centres.
