Goa government partners with The Modern Data Company for AI governance

The Government of Goa has signed a memorandum of understanding with The Modern Data Company to integrate artificial intelligence into public services. This collaboration supports the Swayampurna Goa vision, which focuses on village-level self-reliance and ensuring eligible citizens receive government entitlements.

The initiative will explore AI applications in sectors including education, tourism, healthcare, and public service delivery. Potential use cases involve identifying households eligible for benefits, tracking scheme coverage at the panchayat level, and forecasting visitor numbers to assist in crowd management and safety planning. In healthcare, the technology may be used for disease detection and medicine-demand forecasting.

In a related move, the Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications, alongside the Startup and IT Promotion Cell, has launched the Goa AI Hackathon. This initiative seeks to involve startups and developers in solving 100 identified administrative challenges. The first phase focuses on six problem statements, including automated public service delivery for district collectors and predictive maintenance for waste management infrastructure.
