Goa man detained for allegedly impersonating Additional Excise Commissioner

A man has been detained by Goa Police after allegedly attempting to impersonate the state’s Additional Excise Commissioner. The individual, identified as Manoj Talekar, reportedly arrived at the State Excise Department with a fraudulent appointment letter and briefly occupied the official's chair.

Investigations revealed that Talekar allegedly paid Rs 27 lakh to an individual named Ajit Shankhwalkar to secure the government position. The deception was uncovered when department staff noticed the appointment letter, which purportedly bore the signature of a previous commissioner, did not match official government records. An FIR for impersonation has been filed, and police are currently searching for Shankhwalkar.
