Porvorim shooting targets casino group director in Goa

Two unidentified assailants opened fire on Srinivas Nayak, Director of Majestic Pride Hotels and Resorts Private Limited, in Porvorim, Goa, on a Friday evening. The attack occurred at approximately 8:45 PM outside the group’s five-star hotel near a local casino. Nayak was inside his vehicle with bodyguards when the gunmen fired three shots. His security personnel retaliated, causing the attackers to flee the scene. Nayak escaped the incident unhurt.

CCTV footage reportedly captured the suspects waiting near the hotel entrance prior to the shooting. Goa Police have launched a manhunt and deployed multiple teams to apprehend the perpetrators.

The incident has drawn sharp criticism from political opposition. Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) MLA Viresh Borkar and Congress president Girish Chodankar both condemned the attack, accusing the BJP-led state government of a total collapse in law and order. Borkar noted the shooting took place in a high-visibility, prime location, while Chodankar highlighted that the event occurred near a police station.
