Goalkeeper Maxime Dupé signs two‑year deal to return to FC Nantes

France's FC Nantes announced the signing of 33‑year‑old goalkeeper Maxime Dupé on a free transfer. The former academy product, who first signed a professional contract with the club in 2012 and made 64 appearances between 2014 and 2019, returns after spells at Clermont, Toulouse, Anderlecht and OGC Nice. Dupé agreed to a two‑year contract with an optional extension that could keep him at the club until 2029.

The move comes as Nantes prepares for the upcoming Ligue 2 season following a disastrous Ligue 1 campaign in which the team recorded 20 defeats and finished 17th, resulting in relegation. The club is reinforcing its defensive unit, and Dupé is expected to compete for the starting goalkeeper spot under manager Michel Der Zakarian. The signing was the second free‑transfer addition of the summer, after midfielder Wilitty Younoussa joined from Rodez.

Dupé's familiarity with the Stade de la Beaujoire and his previous experience in French football are seen as assets for a side looking to rebuild and aim for promotion back to the top division.
