Goapele celebrates 25 years of hit song ‘Closer’

R&B artist Goapele is celebrating the 25th anniversary of her hit song ‘Closer’. To mark the milestone, she is embarking on a tour, including a scheduled stop in Houston.

Goapele recently discussed the longevity of her music, noting that Wale and Leon Thomas released an official cover of ‘Closer’ with her blessing. She also addressed the topic of music sampling, stating that while she prefers artists to clear samples, she views unofficial samples, such as those by Drake, as an honor that ‘keeps the music alive.’

In addition to her musical career, Goapele shared details about a recent restorative trip to Thailand with her mother and friends prior to her upcoming tour.
