Goa's Chikhal Kalo mud festival draws thousands as Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte attends

The traditional Chikhal Kalo mud festival was celebrated near the Shree Devki Krishna Temple in Marcel, Goa, with thousands of devotees and visitors taking part in the iconic mud play. The event highlighted the state’s cultural heritage and attracted participants of all ages.

Goa’s Tourism Minister Shri Rohan A. Khaunte joined the festivities, saying, “We are all connected to our soil, and it is important that we celebrate these festivals and pass them on to future generations.” He linked the celebration to the “Goa Beyond Beaches” initiative and the newly launched Ekadasha Teerth Yatra, which aim to promote village tourism and encourage exploration of Goa’s ancient temples.

The festival concluded with continued mud play and community celebrations, underscoring Chikhal Kalo as an enduring symbol of Goa’s cultural identity.
