Goblin drama to be adapted into large-scale musical
The popular South Korean drama ‘Goblin’ (Guardian: The Lonely and Great God) is being adapted into a large-scale musical production. On September 23, 2026, Library Company signed a contract to secure the musical rights from screenwriter Kim Eun Sook and Studio Dragon.
The production agreement covers both domestic performances in South Korea and international markets. Library Company will oversee the planning, creative development, and production processes, aiming for a global audience. The musical intends to preserve the original story's themes of life, death, love, and destiny, utilizing music and large-scale stage design to translate the fantasy universe to the theater.
Originally aired on tvN, the drama starred Gong Yoo, Kim Go Eun, and Lee Dong Wook. It was a significant commercial success, with its final episode reaching a 20.5 percent national viewership rating. While the project is currently in development, no specific cast, release date, or performance schedule has been announced.
